If we are called to not "do our own pleasure" or "speak our own words" on the Sabbath, then what should we do? Here are 20 great ideas:
Pray for our personal growth, relationships, friends, families and enemies.
Play worship music and worship through song and dance.
Read a Book (YES! A BOOK!) of Scripture!
Study out a Scriptural Topic we are unsure about, i.e. use a Strong's Concordance or Biblehub.com to compare translations of passages connected to a specific topic to gain more understanding.
Enjoy the Creation by taking a "Sabbath's Day Journey" walk to a natural landscape which allows us time in nature to reflect, read, or pray.
Congregate with like-minded Believers to study and fellowship.
Serve the Body through our Spiritual Gifts by meeting one-on-one to discuss Scriptural Truths that can help them overcome struggles, bring prepared meals to the hungry, or disperse collected clothes to the needy.
Enjoy an Elegantly Presented Feast prepared before Sundown with loved ones.
Play Games which challenge our minds to reflect on Scripture (Apples to Apples Bible Version, Madgab Bible Version, Bible Charades, etc)!
Take a "Sabbath Nap" for physical rejuvenation.
Watch a documentary based on Scriptural Truth.
Visit sick and lonely persons to encourage and edify them through prayer and fellowship.
Wake up early, or Wake up late and stretch your muscles!
Have a "Sabbath Bath"! Get Immersed for Spiritual Rejuvenation or just enjoy a physical rejuvenation by using your favourite bath salts, sugar scrubs, face mask, body lotions!
Burn frankincense and myrrh incense/candles or air diffusers!
Start a fire before Shabbat and enjoy hot cocoa while reading Scripture by the warm glow.
Study the Hebrew and Greek languages, letters and research important English Faith based words and what they mean in the earlier languages.
Study the land, culture and history of Israel.
Enjoy a night under the stars and studying the constellations and signs discussed in Scripture.
Enjoy a movie or TV Show based on Scriptural events and discuss how they can help us live our lives more like the Messiah.
